A Million Steps in the Fight Against Cancer

Later this month, I am taking part in a huge event to raise funds for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia. The Centre will cost around Australian $140 million, and building is expected to begin in 2009. So far about A$60 million has been raised, and it is hoped that this event in China will contribute another A$5 million.

Olivia has gathered a host of international celebrities and cancer survivors to walk with her along The Great Wall of China – and I'm joining the team for the final two stages between 25 and 29 April. I'm told that Stages 5 and 6, which I'm doing, have a high degree of difficulty (oh dear!) and will take three days (49 km) and two days (22 km) respectively.

I am hoping that as many of my friends, family and fans as possible will be able to sponsor me for my two Stages. There will be daily updates on the website, together with photographs and videos.

CLIFF RICHARD au Palais des Congrès
         

 C’est au Palais des Congrès de Paris le 20 Mars à 20 heures que Cliff RICHARD est apparu en France pour la première fois depuis la remise de la Rose d’Or à l’Olympia en 2005. Une forte communauté Britannique avait fait acte de présence. Est elle constituée des ressortissants d’outre Manche qui avaient fait le voyage ou tous simplement issue de la communauté Française de sa Gracieuse Majesté.

 

 

 Ce fût un fabuleux concert inscrit dans le World Tour 2006 – 2007 qui compte 45 représentations en Europe du Nord, en Afrique du Sud  et en Asie. Un décor moderne et hors du temps à couper le souffle se trouvait être réparti en deux niveaux. Musiciens et Choristes avaient pris place sur la partie supérieure en mezzanine en surplomb de la scène sur laquelle Cliff encadré six danseurs évoluaient. Cette scène était flanquée de deux escaliers, aux marches lumineuses, placés sur les côtés. Du beau boulot qui en jette !!!
Accompagné par des musiciens extraordinaires et de très haut niveau, et pas seulement sur la scène, Cliff fit encore montre de grande qualités professionnelles et artistiques. Chanteur de variété de grande classe, malgré un âge qu’il n’affiche toujours pas, Cliff n’en est toujours pas moins un véritable rocker énergique et dont le charisme continu d’étonner ses fans. Son inimitable timbre de voix déclanche toujours le même effet sur la gente féminine de l’assistance et cela ne semble pas près de s’arrêter.

         Cette date devrait de toute manière restée gravée dans les mémoires du musical étranger de passage en France. Avouons-le, et ce sera le mot de la fin,
